POSITION OVERVIEW Woody & Son's Disposal is seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic to maintain and repair our fleet of approximately 18 waste-management trucks and related equipment. The ideal candidate will have strong diagnostic skills, dependable work habits, and experience servicing diesel engines, hydraulic systems, brakes, transmissions, and electrical systems. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: · Diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel-powered waste-management trucks. · Perform preventive maintenance and safety inspections. Repair diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension, steering, and exhaust systems. · Troubleshoot hydraulic, electrical, and computerized vehicle systems. · Perform welding and basic fabrication when needed. · Maintain accurate service and repair records. · Inspect trucks before and after repairs to ensure safe operation. · Respond to emergency breakdowns when required. · Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area. · Order or identify parts and communicate repair needs to management. · Ensure all work complies with DOT, OSHA, and company safety requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES: · Experience working on heavy-duty trucks, refuse trucks, or commercial vehicles. · Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and vehicle diagnostics. · Ability to use diagnostic equipment and service manuals. · Ability to lift heavy parts and work in varying weather conditions. · Dependable, safety-conscious, and able to work independently. · ASE certification or vocational training is preferred but not required. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE Minimum of 3–5 years of diesel mechanic experience. Valid driver’s license; CDL is preferred.
