MECHANIC - FLEET MAINTENANCE Metro Roll-Off Container Services is a fast-growing sanitation and waste company serving the Greater Kansas City area. We take pride in dependable service, reliable equipment, and getting the job done right. POSITION OVERVIEW The Mechanic is responsible for making sure all Metro Roll-Off Container Services vehicles are safe, dependable, and ready for the road each day. This position performs preventative maintenance, DOT inspections, diagnostics, and major and minor repairs on commercial trucks and company vehicles. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Perform DOT inspections and ensure vehicles are safe and road-ready. Complete daily safety checks and identify needed repairs before vehicles return to service. Perform preventative maintenance, oil changes, fluid services, and filter replacements. Change, repair, rotate, and inspect tires. Diagnose and repair brake, steering, suspension, electrical, and hydraulic systems. Perform transmission diagnostics, service, and repairs. Perform engine diagnostics, major engine repairs, and complete engine swaps when needed. Complete both large and small vehicle repairs on diesel- and gasoline-powered equipment. Troubleshoot breakdowns and prioritize repairs to minimize fleet downtime. Maintain accurate records for DOT inspections, repairs, parts, and preventative maintenance. Communicate vehicle condition, repair needs, and parts requirements to management. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized shop and work area. PRIMARY GOAL The Mechanic's primary responsibility is to ensure every company vehicle leaving the yard is safe, dependable, DOT-compliant, and ready to work. Safety comes first, followed by preventative maintenance, quality repairs, and keeping vehicle downtime to a minimum. Metro Roll-Off Container Services is looking for a dependable, experienced mechanic who takes pride in their work and understands the importance of keeping a working fleet on the road.
