Delivery has been at the heart of the business from day one. We run our own trucks with our own people, and we never hand our customers off to a third-party service. Our drivers are an extension of our family business. For many customers, the driver is the face of The Hungry Puppy they see most often. You will be welcomed into driveways, garages, barns, and homes, and trusted with gate codes, keys, and beloved pets. We are looking for someone who treats every customer like a neighbor and every delivery like it is going to their own family. Position summary The Delivery Driver picks, loads, and delivers pet food, supplies, and farm feed to our customers accurately, safely, and on time. You will operate a company box truck or SUV on assigned routes, handle payments and paperwork, care for the vehicle, and represent The Hungry Puppy professionally at every door. On light route days, you will help out in the store and warehouse. Key responsibilities Order accuracy and loading Pick the correct product, brand, size, and quantity for every order and verify the full load against the invoice before leaving. Load in stop order, secure every load with straps, and confirm addresses and special instructions before departure. Catch and report order errors at the store, not at the customer's door. Product care Deliver bags, cases, and cans undamaged and protect feed and paper goods from weather. Keep frozen and refrigerated product in the cooler on ice for the whole route. Check dates so no short-dated or damaged product goes out. Safe driving Obey all traffic laws, wear a seatbelt, and never use a handheld phone while the vehicle is moving. Complete and document pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections every route. Report accidents, incidents, tickets, near misses, and mechanical problems to management the same day. Vehicle care Keep the cab and cargo area clean, the vehicle fueled, and maintenance, fluids, and tire checks current. Keep required equipment on board: hand truck, straps, paperwork, and phone charger. Return the vehicle clean, secured, and properly parked at the end of every shift. Routes and timing Complete deliveries within promised time windows, following the assigned schedule and zones. Stay on route with no unnecessary stops, and adapt sensibly when conditions change. Call the store and the customer ahead of time when running late. Paperwork, payments, and returns Collect signatures, COD payments, checks, and cash, and turn everything in the same day. Take photo proof of delivery when required and document any discrepancies. Bring returns, exchanges, and undelivered product back into the store properly. Customer service Greet every customer courteously and place product where they want it, not just inside the door. Close gates, handle customer pets with care, and respect driveways, lawns, garage codes, and keys. Keep customer information and delivery details confidential. Communication and store support Stay reachable on the company phone and answer the store promptly while stopped. Report problems honestly, including your own mistakes, and bring issues back the same day. Know our product lines, mention promotions and events, and pass along customer feedback from the field. Assist in the store and warehouse when routes are light. Requir…
