The business provides international air and ocean freight forwarding alongside customs brokerage and wider supply chain services. The Customs Brokerage department is continuing to develop, creating an opportunity for an ambitious customs professional who wants to build a long-term career within CHB. About the Role The Customs Entry Writer will be responsible for handling customs entries across air, ocean, and transborder shipments while supporting a diverse portfolio of import customers. This position is based in Elizabeth, New Jersey , and candidates must be within a reasonable commuting distance of the office. The company is particularly interested in someone ambitious who wants to continue developing their customs knowledge and progress within the Customs Brokerage department. Key Responsibilities Prepare and process air, ocean, and transborder customs entries, including ACE, ISF, In-Bond, FTZ, and PGA requirements. Review commercial invoices, bills of lading, HTS classifications, valuation, country of origin, and duty assessments. Maintain current knowledge of CBP, FDA, USDA, EPA, FCC, AQI, and other Partner Government Agency requirements. Audit entries, support classification work, and assist with internal customs compliance reviews. Manage a portfolio of import customers, including key accounts across dangerous goods, perishables, pharmaceuticals, electronics, furniture, clothing, and FAK. Communicate directly with customers regarding clearance issues, regulatory requirements, tariff impacts, duty-saving opportunities, and compliance best practices. Candidate Requirements Previous hands-on Customs Entry Writer or Customs Brokerage experience within freight forwarding. Licensed Customs Broker experience is highly desirable, although experienced senior brokerage professionals will also be considered. Strong knowledge of CBP, ACE, ISF, HTS, PGA, FTZ, and In-Bond processes. Experience working with FDA and AQI requirements. CargoWise experience preferred. Must be able to commute to Elizabeth, NJ .
