Akkodis is seeking a Customs Classification Specialist for a 6+ months contract role with a client located in Orlando, FL/ Remote. Pay Range: $28/hr. - $34/hr. On W2 (The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.) Key Responsibilities: Research, analyze, and assign Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS) classifications for imported: Products Equipment Materials Components Spare Parts Gather and evaluate technical product information from: Engineering drawings Product specifications Product literature Suppliers Internal stakeholders Apply classification methodologies using: Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS) General Rules of Interpretation (GRIs) CBP CROSS rulings Explanatory Notes Relevant customs regulations and legal authorities Develop and maintain detailed classification justifications to support: Regulatory compliance Audit readiness Customs documentation requirements Collaborate with: Customs Operations Regulatory Compliance Engineering Procurement Supply Chain Business Units Obtain required information and resolve classification-related issues and inquiries. Review and monitor classification requests to ensure: Timely completion Accuracy of classifications Compliance with regulations Support: Customs audits Internal compliance reviews Customs inquiries Binding ruling activities Conduct classification quality reviews and consistency checks across systems and processes. Contribute to: Continuous improvement initiatives Process enhancement projects Training programs Classification governance activities Support annual: Tariff updates Classification revalidations Classification data maintenance activities Required Skills & Experience: Strong knowledge of HTSUS classification principles and methodologies. Experience interpreting customs regulations, CBP rulings, and trade compliance requirements. Ability to analyze technical product information and determine accurate tariff classifications. Strong attention to detail and analytical problem-solving skills. Experience working with cross-functional teams in trade compliance, supply chain, procurement, and engineering environments. Ability to manage multiple classification requests while meeting deadlines. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Preferred Qualifications: Experience supporting customs audits and regulatory compliance programs. Familiarity with classification governance, process improvement, and quality assurance activities. Experience working in manufacturing, engineering, logistics, or global trade environments.
