Crew Lead / Tent Installer – Box Truck Driver (Bilingual Welcome)

Summary Bilingual (English/Spanish) welcome. Spanish is not required. Alpine Events is an event and tent rental company. Our Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti crew sets up weddings, graduation parties, festivals, corporate events, and backyard parties all over Washtenaw County. We're hiring a Crew Lead / Tent Installer who can drive our 26 ft box truck, run a small crew, and get every tent up safely, straight, and on time. If you've led a crew in tents, rentals, moving, landscaping, roofing, or construction, and you like early starts, working outdoors, and seeing the finished job at the end of the day, we'd like to meet you. What you'll do - Load and unload trucks at our Morgan Rd warehouse using pick lists and site layouts. Make sure every tent, pole, stake, sidewall, table, chair, and staging piece is on board before you leave. - Drive a non-CDL 26 ft box truck safely to event sites around Ann Arbor, Ypsilanti, and Washtenaw County. Do pre-trip and post-trip checks. - Lead a crew of 2–5 on install and teardown of frame and pole tents, tables, chairs, staging, dance floors, and accessories. - Read site layouts, measure and mark the site, and check for underground utilities and obstacles before staking. Stake, ballast, and tension tents correctly. - Keep the crew safe: correct lifting, hammer and stake safety, and calling off work in high winds or lightning. - Be the professional face of Alpine on site. Walk the customer through the setup and fix issues on the spot. - Count and inspect equipment at teardown. Report damage and missing items. Return the truck clean, fueled, and organized. - Train newer crew members on our install methods. Requirements - Able to drive a 26 ft box truck (non-CDL) safely, including backing up, tight residential streets, and grass or gravel sites. - Valid driver's license and a clean driving record that passes our motor vehicle record (MVR) check. - Michigan chauffeur's license, or willing to get one before your first solo drive. - Must be 18 or older. - Can lift and carry 50+ lbs repeatedly, and can stand, bend, kneel, climb ladders, and swing a sledgehammer for long shifts, with or without reasonable accommodation. - Can work outdoors in all weather: heat, sun, rain, and cold. - Available early mornings (some starts at 6:00 AM or earlier) and weekends, plus longer days in peak season. - Reliable transportation to the warehouse at 4163 Morgan Rd, Ypsilanti. - Reliable and on time. A crew can't leave without its lead. Nice to have - Experience installing tents (frame, pole, or clear span) or working in event or party rentals. - Experience leading a crew of any kind: rentals, moving, landscaping, construction, roofing, or staging. - Bilingual English/Spanish (a plus, never required). - Basic hand and power tool skills, plus experience with stake drivers, ratchet straps, and load securing. - Forklift or pallet jack experience. Schedule - Event-driven schedule: early mornings, weekends (Friday through Sunday is our busiest stretch), and some long days in peak season. Pay - $18–$25/hr, based on driving and crew-lead experience. - Paid time off (PTO), a 401(k) with company match, and health insurance.
