Scenic Ridge Company is seeking a dependable, safety-minded Crane Operator / CDL Truck Driver to join our Hauling and Crane Services team. In this role, you’ll operate cranes to lift and place materials, transport equipment and materials, and help our construction teams and customers keep their projects moving. This position offers variety, combining skilled crane operation with CDL driving assignments, including semi-trucks and dump trucks when crane scheduling permits. What You’ll Do Operate cranes safely and efficiently: Lift, move, and place materials according to project requirements while staying within equipment capacities. Plan and prepare for each lift: Review load weights, load charts, operating radius, crane configuration, ground conditions, and jobsite hazards. Set up equipment properly: Position cranes and deploy outriggers with appropriate support for jobsite conditions. Rig and control loads: Inspect and use slings, chains, hooks, shackles, and lifting devices; recognize unsafe rigging and remove defective equipment from service. Communicate with the crew: Follow standard crane hand signals and coordinate with signal persons, ground personnel, supervisors, and customers. Provide CDL driving support: Operate assigned semi-trucks, dump trucks, and trailers to transport equipment and materials for Scenic Ridge divisions. Secure loads for transport: Verify load positioning, weight distribution, securement, and trailer connections before traveling. Care for your equipment: Complete crane and vehicle inspections, report deficiencies promptly, and keep assigned equipment clean and organized. Maintain accurate records: Submit timecards, job sheets, inspection reports, driver logs, and other required documentation. Make safety the priority: Recognize changing conditions and stop work whenever equipment, rigging, weather, or jobsite hazards make an operation unsafe. What You’ll Bring A valid CDL of the appropriate class with required endorsements and an acceptable driving record. Current NCCCO crane operator certification appropriate for the equipment operated. Current DOT medical certification when required. Knowledge of crane setup, load charts, capacity limitations, safe lifting practices, and rigging inspection. The ability to understand standard crane hand signals and perform basic calculations for lift planning. Knowledge of applicable DOT, OSHA, and company safety requirements. Dependability, attention to detail, and sound judgment. Professional communication and a respectful approach to customers, coworkers, and jobsite personnel. A willingness to maintain required training, licenses, and certifications. Preferred Qualifications Two to five years of crane operating experience. High school diploma or GED. Work Environment and Physical Responsibilities This role involves operating cranes and commercial vehicles, working on active construction sites, inspecting equipment, and assisting with loading and unloading when qualified. Responsibilities include climbing, bending, kneeling, using equipment controls, and lifting or carrying up to 50 pounds, with frequent lifting or carrying of up to 25 pounds. Why Scenic Ridge?
