Construction Delivery Driver/Laborer
HUG ConstructionJob description: Overview We are seeking a dependable Construction Delivery Driver to join our construction team. In this role, you will pick up materials from suppliers and deliver them to active job sites and our shop, keeping our crews supplied and projects on schedule. When you're not on the road, you'll pitch in with general construction labor wherever needed. This is a good fit for someone who is reliable, safe behind the wheel, and happy to stay busy and work with their hands. Responsibilities Pick up building materials, tools, and supplies from suppliers, lumberyards, and vendors, and deliver them to job sites or the shop on schedule. Load, secure, and unload materials safely, including lumber, drywall, roofing, fasteners, paint, and equipment. Verify orders at pickup and delivery by checking quantities and item descriptions against work orders and packing slips, and report shortages or damage promptly. Operate company vehicles safely and in compliance with all traffic laws and company policies. Perform daily vehicle inspections, report maintenance needs or damage, and keep vehicles clean and in good working order. Plan efficient delivery routes and communicate with supervisors, crews, and suppliers about timing and changes. Keep accurate records of deliveries, receipts, mileage, and paperwork. Assist with general construction labor as needed, such as site cleanup, material handling, demolition support, and helping crews with basic tasks. Organize and maintain inventory and storage at the shop and on job sites. Follow all jobsite safety rules and wear required protective equipment, including gloves, eye protection, and high-visibility clothing. Requirements Valid driver's license with a clean or acceptable driving record. Must meet all legal and insurance requirements to drive company vehicles, including minimum age and driving history standards set by our insurance carrier. Ability to pass a motor vehicle record (MVR) check and any required pre-employment screening. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs repeatedly and to stand, bend, climb, and walk throughout the workday. Ability to safely load and secure cargo. Basic math and reading skills for checking orders, measurements, and paperwork. Good communication skills and the ability to follow directions and work independently. Dependable, punctual, and organized, with the ability to manage time across multiple stops. Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience in construction, delivery driving, or material handling. Familiarity with building materials and common construction terminology. Experience with a forklift, pallet jack, or trailer towing is a plus.
