Commodity Buyer - Wire, Conduit & Pipe

PWSG has branches and luxury showrooms across Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana and Alabama. We're investing in people, systems and growth, and we're looking for a sharp, competitive buyer to join a team that moves fast and gets things done. The Opportunity This is a high-impact role. You'll make sure our branches have the wire, conduit, and pipe our contractor and end-user customers need, at prices that win business. Based in Florence, KY, you'll handle commodity purchasing for 12 branches: 4 in Ohio, 7 in Kentucky and 1 in Indiana. Commodity products move fast and their prices change constantly. Your buying decisions will directly affect our margins, our fill rates and our ability to compete for projects. What You'll Do Keep the branches supplied. Make sure every branch has the right amount of electrical wire and cable, conduit (EMT, PVC, rigid) and plumbing pipe (copper, PVC, PEX and others) to serve contractor and end-user customers. Negotiate the best cost. Use strong negotiating skills to get competitive pricing from manufacturers, mills and suppliers. Negotiate supplier terms and conditions, including payment terms, freight, rebates, price protection, minimums and return policies. Watch the market. Track copper, steel and resin markets, plus supplier price changes and lead times, and time purchases to protect margin and stay competitive. Balance inventory and service. Work with branch managers, inside and outside sales, and operations to forecast demand, avoid stockouts and limit excess or aged inventory. Support big projects and quotes. Work with sales on job-specific and large-quantity pricing to win and keep contractor business. Manage supplier relationships. Hold suppliers accountable for performance, fill rates and delivery. Report and analyze data. Track purchasing KPIs such as cost savings, inventory turns, fill rate and gross margin contribution, and look for ways to improve. What You Bring 3+ years of purchasing, buying or procurement experience, ideally with commodity products in wholesale distribution, manufacturing or construction supply A proven record of negotiating cost and supplier terms Knowledge of electrical and/or plumbing commodities and the markets that drive their prices Strong analytical skills and comfort with numbers, Excel and an ERP or inventory management system Good judgment under pressure, the ability to make quick, data-driven buying decisions, and the ability to juggle priorities across several locations Strong communication skills and a team-first attitude Willingness to travel to branches in Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana as needed Preferred Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain or a related field, or equivalent experience Experience in electrical or plumbing wholesale distribution Familiarity with distributor buying groups, rebate programs and vendor-managed inventory Why Wiseway Competitive compensation Benefits: medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with match, and PTO A visible role with real influence on company performance Room to grow inside a growing, multi-state, PE-backed organization A fast-moving, results-focused culture where good ideas get acted on Ready to make an impact?
