Commercial Electrical Estimator

Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Commercial Electrical Estimator to join our team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive electrical project estimates, analyzing construction drawings, and collaborating closely with clients, project managers, and suppliers. Your expertise will help ensure our projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in full compliance with electrical codes and safety standards. Duties Review and interpret electrical construction drawings, schematics, and blueprints to develop precise estimates. Utilize estimating software such as HeavyBid and Electrical Estimating tools to compile detailed cost proposals. Conduct material cost estimating by sourcing prices from suppliers and factoring in delivery times and availability. Prepare comprehensive bid packages that include labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs. Collaborate with project managers and clients through negotiation to refine project scope and pricing strategies. Ensure all estimates adhere to NEC (National Electrical Code), NFPA 70 compliance standards, and local electrical building codes. Manage project budgets by monitoring costs throughout the bidding process and adjusting estimates as needed. Review construction documents for accuracy, identify potential risks or discrepancies, and recommend solutions. Coordinate with procurement teams to ensure timely acquisition of materials while maintaining cost control. Assist in contract review and support project management teams during project execution for cost management and change order processing. Skills Proficiency in electrical blueprint reading, schematic interpretation, and construction drawing review. Strong knowledge of electrical systems, wiring methods, and electrical building codes such as NEC standards. Experience with estimating software including HeavyBid, Bluebeam for digital markup, and other construction estimating tools. Excellent negotiation skills to secure favorable pricing with suppliers and subcontractors. Familiarity with NFPA 70 compliance requirements for electrical installations. Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics accurately under tight deadlines. Solid understanding of construction industry practices, site safety protocols, and construction management principles. Effective client communication skills to present estimates clearly and respond to inquiries professionally. Competence in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word) for data analysis, reporting, and documentation purposes. Experience in cost control, project budgeting, material cost estimation, and overall construction project estimation processes.
