Responsibilities Safely operate commercial trucks with a valid CDL A license across OTR routes, adhering strictly to FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards. Load and unload freight efficiently using manual handling techniques, ensuring cargo safety and compliance with hazardous materials regulations when transporting dangerous goods. Navigate routes using GPS navigation systems to optimize delivery times while maintaining awareness of traffic laws and safety protocols. Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the tractor-trailer or other vehicle types to identify potential issues and ensure vehicle safety. Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, delivery documentation, and cargo manifests in compliance with FMCSA regulations. Communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding delivery schedules, route changes, or any incidents encountered on the road. Skills Proven experience in commercial truck driving with a valid CDL A license; familiarity with manual transmission trucks is preferred. Knowledge of logistics cargo handling including load & unload procedures for freight such as hazardous materials or dangerous goods. Skilled in route driving using GPS navigation tools to ensure timely deliveries across diverse geographic locations. Strong understanding of DOT regulations, FMCSA guidelines, hazardous materials regulations, and safety standards for truck loading and unloading. Experience operating different types of trucks including refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, and tractor-trailers. Ability to handle manual handling tasks safely while managing freight that requires careful manual handling techniques.
