About the Position SOCAL CO. is building a commercial heavy equipment transportation and recovery operation in San Diego and is seeking an experienced Class A CDL Driver to join our growing team. This is not a general freight, warehouse, parcel, or dry-van driving position. Our work involves transporting construction equipment, machinery, commercial vehicles, trucks, and other heavy loads , as well as commercial towing and recovery work. We are looking for a dependable, safety-focused driver who understands commercial trucks and trailers, takes care of equipment, communicates professionally with customers, and is comfortable working in a hands-on transportation environment. Responsibilities Operate Class A commercial truck and trailer combinations for equipment and vehicle transportation. Operate company tow/recovery equipment when properly trained and qualified. Transport construction equipment, machinery, commercial vehicles, trucks, and other loads. Safely load, unload, position, and secure equipment and vehicles. Properly use chains, binders, straps, winches, and other load-securement equipment. Verify equipment/load weights, dimensions, securement, and transportation requirements before departure. Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and identify equipment or maintenance concerns. Follow DOT, California motor-carrier, Hours-of-Service, ELD, and company safety requirements. Communicate with dispatch and customers regarding pickups, deliveries, ETAs, job-site conditions, and unexpected issues. Maintain required driver, inspection, and job documentation. Keep assigned trucks, trailers, and equipment clean and properly cared for. Assist with loading, recovery, and other operational tasks as required. Represent SOCAL CO. professionally at customer locations, construction sites, equipment yards, dealerships, rental companies, and other commercial facilities. Required Qualifications Valid Class A CDL. Acceptable driving record. Commercial truck-driving experience. Strong understanding of commercial vehicle and trailer safety. Ability to safely secure equipment and vehicles for transportation. Ability to perform required physical duties associated with chains, binders, straps, ramps, and equipment securement. Ability to perform required DOT inspections and maintain accurate driver documentation. Dependable, professional, and able to communicate effectively with customers and dispatch. Willingness to work in a growing operation where assignments may include both equipment transportation and commercial vehicle transport/recovery. Highly Preferred Experience Direct experience in one or more of the following is strongly preferred: Heavy equipment transportation Lowboy/lowbed or equipment trailer operation Flatbed or specialized transportation Construction equipment hauling Equipment rental delivery/transportation Loading and securing excavators, loaders, skid steers, backhoes, forklifts, or similar machinery Medium- or heavy-duty towing and recovery Commercial truck transportation Winching and recovery operations Heavy equipment transportation or towing/recovery experience is strongly preferred, but candidates are not required to have experience in both. Compensation $30.00–$36.00 per hour , depending on directly relevant experience and demonstrated capabilities. Full-time — approximately 40 hours per week.
