Duties
• Safely operate super B flatbed trucks for local Manitoba deliveries and long-distance hauls, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations
• Secure freight properly on flatbeds, ensuring load stability during transit
• Conduct pre-trip inspections, including checking brakes, lights, tires, and securing equipment to guarantee vehicle safety and compliance
• Manage freight loading and unloading, utilizing forklift or other heavy equipment as needed to handle cargo efficiently
• Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, inspections, and delivery documentation in compliance with regulatory standards
• Communicate effectively with dispatchers, customers, and team members to coordinate schedules and address any issues promptly
• Perform routine vehicle maintenance or report repairs needed to keep trucks in optimal condition, including basic automotive repairs when necessary
Skills
• Valid Class 1 commercial driver’s license with clean driving record
• Experience operating heavy equipment such as forklifts and flatbed trucks in freight handling environments
• Knowledge of freight securing techniques specific to flatbed transportation
• Strong understanding of safety protocols related to heavy equipment operation and commercial driving
• Ability to perform basic automotive repairs and troubleshooting on trucks when required
• Excellent communication skills for clear coordination with team members and clients
• Physical stamina to handle loading/unloading tasks and long hours on the road
