Maj's Services Inc.Position Description: The Diesel / Gas Mechanic will diagnose, adjust, repair, maintain, and overhaul trucks, equipment, and gas/diesel-powered systems. The position performs preventive maintenance, mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, brake and suspension work, engine and drivetrain repair, component replacement and rebuilding, equipment inspections, roadside service, and complete work-order documentation. The Diesel / Gas Mechanic is responsible for performing work in accordance with applicable DOT requirements and company safety, quality, environmental, and maintenance procedures Primary Duties: Light/Medium Duty Brakes (Air and Hydraulic) Light/Medium Duty Suspension Light/Medium Duty Hydraulics Light/Medium Duty Electrical Light/Medium Duty Engine Repair and Diagnostics Light/Medium Duty Emissions Light/Medium Duty HVAC Light/Medium Duty Tires Light/Medium Duty DOT Inspections Light/Medium PM’s (oil changes, services, etc.) Fabrication and Welding Road Calls Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Perform routine maintenance such as changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment and machinery. Adjust air brakes, align wheels, tighten bolts and screws, and reassemble equipment. Raise trucks, equipment, and heavy parts using hydraulic jacks and hoists. Test drive trucks and equipment to diagnose malfunctions or to ensure that they are in proper working order. Inspect, test and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using test instruments such as handheld computers, motor analyzers, chassis charts, and pressure gauges. Qualifications/Experience/Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Three (3) years of diesel / gas mechanic experience preferred. Working knowledge of light / medium duty truck and diesel/gas engine systems, including brakes, steering, suspension, drivetrain, fuel systems, electrical systems, and preventive maintenance practices. Ability to diagnose mechanical and electrical problems using inspection techniques, test instruments, diagnostic software or equipment, gauges, and sound mechanical judgment. And using email.
