Continental railsPosition Overview Please Submit Application Here: https://continentalrails.com/apply We are hiring a CDL Class A Truck Driver/Equipment Operator to transport rail materials, equipment, and supplies to active railroad construction sites and operate heavy equipment. This role requires safe operation, strong awareness of DOT compliance, and the ability to work in outdoor field environments. *COMPETITIVE PAY, OVERTIME HOURS, PER DIEM , PHONE STIPEND, VACATION DAYS Position Summary This role combines commercial truck operation with heavy equipment operation. The operator will transport materials to active railroad construction sites and run machinery such as dozers, loaders, excavators, backhoes, cranes, and various trucks used for site preparation and material handling. Strong safety awareness, DOT compliance, and field‑readiness are essential. Responsibilities Operate Class A commercial vehicles to transport rail materials, equipment, and supplies Perform DOT‑required pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections Secure loads using chains, binders, and straps Follow assigned routes and delivery schedules Assist crews with loading/unloading materials Operate heavy equipment including dozers, loaders, backhoes, excavators, cranes, and similar machinery Operate trucks such as dump trucks, water trucks, roll‑off trucks, tanker trucks, and front‑loader trucks Conduct routine inspections and maintenance checks on all machinery Follow strict safety protocols to maintain a secure work environment Coordinate tasks with supervisors and crew members to meet project deadlines Maintain accurate logs for equipment usage, maintenance, and delivery documentation Report mechanical issues, hazards, or incidents immediately Minimum Requirements Valid CDL Class A license Experience loading and unloading equipment Proven experience operating heavy construction equipment Clean driving record meeting DOT and company standards Ability to pass DOT physical and drug/alcohol testing Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work outdoors in all weather conditions Willingness to travel nationwide Preferred Qualifications Experience with flatbeds, lowboys, or heavy‑haul trailers Railroad or construction industry experience Knowledge of load securement for rail materials and equipment Work Environment Outdoor, field‑based work at active construction and rail sites Early mornings, extended hours, and weekend work as projects require Benefits: 401(k) Dental insurance Health insurance Paid time off Vision insurance License/Certification: CDL A (Required) Willingness to travel: 25% (Required) Work Location: In person
