Carrier Relations Negotiator Mid-Level | Full-Time Location: Remote (U.S.), hybrid available for candidates local to the New York Metro Area (office in Brooklyn) Travel: 10–20% Compensation: $80,000–$95,000 base, based on experience, plus performance incentives and benefits Type: Full-Time | Direct Hire About BF BF is a privately held advisory firm in carrier services and logistics optimization. We help clients cut shipping costs and negotiate better agreements with their carriers. The Role The Negotiator runs carrier contract negotiations for our clients, from the rate analysis through the signed agreement. The work is mostly parcel, with some freight. You'll build the savings case, set the negotiation strategy, work directly with carrier reps and present recommendations to clients. You'll also review the work of Carrier Relations Analysts and help train them. Over time, you'll manage your own portfolio of client accounts. What You Will Do Lead carrier contract negotiations for assigned clients, from strategy through signed agreement Build and review the rate models and savings analyses behind each negotiation Analyze client shipping data, carrier rates, discount programs, surcharges, accessorials and contract terms to find savings Decide where to push, what to ask for and what the carrier is likely to accept Work directly with carrier reps on proposals, counteroffers and contract terms Present savings analyses and recommendations to clients Assess how GRIs and surcharge changes affect client contracts Review Analyst work for accuracy and help train Analysts Travel for client meetings, carrier meetings and industry events Requirements 2–5 years in carrier pricing, contract negotiation, procurement or a related commercial role Working knowledge of how parcel pricing works: zones, dimensional weight, surcharges, accessorials, discount tiers and minimums Advanced Excel: building models on large shipping datasets and running scenario analysis Negotiation experience with carriers, vendors or clients, and the judgment to know what a carrier will realistically accept Comfortable using AI tools to speed up analysis and modeling (we use Claude), and knows when not to trust the output Ownership: you take a negotiation from raw data to signed agreement without being chased Clear, direct communication with clients and carrier reps Discretion with confidential client and carrier information Preferred Qualifications Carrier experience is strongly preferred. The most relevant backgrounds: Pricing, revenue management or sales at UPS, FedEx or a regional parcel carrier Carrier relations, procurement or contract negotiation at a 3PL, parcel reseller or freight broker Parcel or freight cost management at a shipper, retailer or e-commerce company Growth & Compensation $80,000–$95,000 base, based on experience Performance incentives tied to individual and team results Benefits Ownership of a growing portfolio of client accounts Pay: $80,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year Work Location: Remote
