Capital Projects Coordinator
CFI (Canada Fluorspar Inc.)Canada Fluorspar (NL) Inc. is seeking a Capital Projects Coordinator to support the planning, coordination and execution of capital projects at our St. Lawrence operation. Reporting to the Capital Projects Superintendents, you will work with site departments, consultants and contractors to help deliver projects safely and in accordance with approved scope, schedule, budget and quality requirements. This entry-level professional opportunity is well suited to an engineer with a mechanical, civil or processing background looking to gain practical experience in an operating mining environment. Key Responsibilities Support capital projects from initial scoping through construction, commissioning and close-out. Assist with project scopes, schedules, cost estimates, budgets and progress tracking. Coordinate communication among site departments, contractors, consultants and suppliers. Conduct field inspections, collect measurements and monitor work against drawings, specifications and safety requirements. Review technical documents, contractor submissions, change requests and progress claims, escalating issues as required. Maintain project records, including drawings, meeting minutes, action logs, cost reports and close-out documentation. Track commitments, invoices, forecasts and budget variances. Support procurement by preparing requisitions, obtaining quotations and following up on deliveries. Coordinate access, permits, shutdown requirements and operational impacts with Operations, Maintenance and HSE. Support quality checks, deficiency tracking and turnover of completed work. Promote safe work practices and comply with company policies and procedures. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, civil or processing engineering, or a related engineering discipline, completed recently or expected to be completed before the start date. Co-op, internship, summer employment or project experience in mining, construction, heavy industry or infrastructure is an asset. Working knowledge of engineering principles, construction methods, drawings, specifications and project documentation. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word. Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Microsoft Project or similar software is an asset. Strong organizational, communication and problem-solving skills. Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities. Willingness to learn and collaborate with tradespeople, contractors and technical staff. Valid driver’s licence. Work Location and Conditions This position is based on site at the St. Lawrence mine site, Monday to Friday, with a 40-hour workweek. Applicants must live locally or be willing to relocate to the area. This is not a fly-in/fly-out position, and camp accommodation is not provided. The role includes office work and regular field work in active industrial and construction areas. Field activities involve uneven terrain and exposure to changing weather, noise, dust and operating equipment. Required personal protective equipment must be worn. Occasional extended hours may be required to support shutdowns or critical project activities. Employment is subject to CFI’s standard pre-employment requirements.
