About the Position Global Emission Systems Inc. is seeking an experienced Buyer / Purchasing Specialist to join our manufacturing operation in Whitby, Ontario. This position is responsible for day-to-day purchasing, inventory replenishment, supplier follow-up and expediting to ensure materials are available to support production and customer requirements. The ideal candidate has experience purchasing within a manufacturing environment, is highly organized, and is comfortable working with suppliers, inventory, ERP systems and multiple competing priorities. Key Responsibilities Create and manage purchase orders for raw materials, components and other production requirements. Monitor inventory levels and generate purchase orders to maintain appropriate stock levels and support production requirements. Expedite open purchase orders and proactively follow up with suppliers regarding late or at-risk deliveries. Investigate and resolve supplier, shipping, pricing and delivery issues. Work with suppliers to improve delivery performance, lead times and overall service. Review supplier pricing and identify opportunities for cost savings and improved purchasing efficiency. Assist with inventory control and inventory accuracy initiatives. Coordinate with Production, Customer Service, Sales and other departments regarding material availability and requirements. Maintain accurate purchasing information within the ERP system. Assist with purchasing and inventory reports as required. Participate in process-improvement initiatives related to purchasing, inventory and supply chain activities. Qualifications 3+ years of purchasing, procurement or buyer experience , preferably within a manufacturing environment. Experience working with ERP/MRP systems. Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is an asset. Strong Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Strong supplier communication and follow-up skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
