Buyer/Planner - Manufacturing

Position Summary The Buyer / Planner is responsible for planning, sourcing, purchasing, and managing inventory to support manufacturing operations utilizing a Kanban replenishment system. This position ensures materials are available to meet production requirements while maintaining optimal inventory levels through effective demand planning, supplier management, and continuous improvement of Kanban processes. Key Responsibilities Material Planning & Kanban Management Manage and maintain Kanban replenishment systems for raw materials, components, and production supplies. Monitor Kanban signals and inventory levels to ensure timely replenishment of materials. Follow established Kanban quantities, reorder points, and safety stock levels based on demand and lead-time changes. Analyze consumption trends and production schedules to support uninterrupted material flow. Identify and resolve material shortages and supply chain constraints. Continuously improve Kanban parameters to optimize inventory turns and service levels. Purchasing & Supplier Management Source, evaluate, and procure materials, components, equipment, and services. Issue purchase orders and manage order status through delivery. Negotiate pricing, lead times, and supplier agreements to achieve cost and delivery objectives. Monitor supplier performance and address issues related to quality, delivery, and responsiveness. Develop and maintain strategic supplier relationships. Identify and qualify alternate suppliers to reduce supply chain risks. Expedite critical orders as needed to support production requirements. Required Qualifications 3+ years of purchasing, materials planning, or supply chain experience. Experience working in a Kanban, Lean Manufacturing, or pull-system environment. Knowledge of inventory control and material planning principles. Strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications. Preferred Qualifications Manufacturing, electronics, aerospace, defense, or optics industry experience. Experience with QuickBooks. Experience implementing or managing Kanban systems. Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles.
