Buyer (bilingual English/Chinese)
Gemini Food Corp.Leading City of Industry, California Asian Food Importer and Distributor is seeking a Buyer who has experience in the consumer goods industry and is bilingual in English and Chinese, preferably with intermediate experience (3-5 years). The role includes timely planning of existing product and vendors both locally in the USA and in Asia under the leadership of the Supply Chain Manager. Understanding the import compliance arena and possessing the knowledge of inbound logistics and related issues is essential. The candidate must have very good interpersonal and communications skills, as well as excellent project management abilities. Candidate must be able to work independently in a dynamic environment. Job description includes (but not limited to): Develop items forecast based on historical sales and recent market trends and issue the PO with the vendors accordingly Continuously negotiate and compare pricing and lead times from the vendors to obtain the lowest prices while maintaining quality standards Implement rebate/incentive programs with the suppliers that are linked to annual volumes as well as payment terms Manage transportation costs and focus on reducing total landed cost Propose and implement solutions to improve forecast accuracy, maintain in-stock levels, minimize lost sales, and maximize inventory turnover rate Respond promptly to other departments’ inquiry requests, conduct inventory analysis and determine replenishment quantity to deliver better fill rates Effectively manage supplier performance by conducting routine supplier business reviews Work closely with the custom brokers to ensure timely delivery of all customs and shipping documents Post daily inbound shipment receiving for domestically sourced and imported products Check on-hand inventory BBD info., PO and FIFO and verify cycle count discrepancies between data activities and counting result Coordinate direct shipment & new product development with the Sales/NPD team Coordinate with the Food Safety team for the items under FDA Hold or require lab testing and importing permits renewal Up to 10% travel Desired qualification and experience: Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain or other relevant fields, strong mathematical and statistical knowledge At least 3 to 5 years’ experience in Demand Planning / Forecasting / Purchasing / Inventory Control role Ability to speak and write Chinese Effective communication (verbal and written), interpersonal and organizational skills along with and problem-solving abilities Ability to work independently and as part of a team, capability to multitask in a fast-paced environment Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially MS Excel Strong attention to detail personality and excellent analytical skill Salary Compensation is based on experience.
