You turn REQUESTS into ACTION.

The Opportunity

In this detail-driven and highly collaborative role, you’ll play a critical part in keeping AMA’s operations moving. As a Buyer, you’ll be responsible for executing purchasing activities that support AMA’s end-to-end source-to-pay (S2P) process. You’ll ensure approved requisitions are accurately converted into purchase orders, processed in compliance with procurement policies, and completed in a timely manner.

Working closely with Finance, Legal, various business units and suppliers, you’ll provide hands-on transactional support that ensures accuracy, consistency, and continuity across sourcing, purchasing, and payment activities. Through disciplined execution and strong attention to detail, you’ll help maintain procurement integrity, audit readiness, and smooth day-to-day operations.

If you enjoy working within established processes, take pride in accuracy, and like being the go-to resource for procurement support, this role offers a meaningful opportunity to contribute to AMA’s success.

  • Discounts on AMA memberships, registries, travel, and driver education
  • Unlimited access to learning tools like Udemy and dedicated development time
  • Paid time off including 3 weeks of vacation, a Me-Day, Volunteer Day, and optional vacation purchase

Who You Are

  • Customer-focused, with a professional and collaborative approach
  • Confident working within policies, procedures, and system controls
  • Comfortable providing guidance and support to internal stakeholders
  • A clear communicator who applies sound judgment and knows when to escalate

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Review and fulfill approved requisitions in Workday by converting them into accurate, compliant purchase orders
  • Ensure procurement policies and competitive sourcing requirements are met, addressing or escalating non-compliant requests as needed
  • Facilitate Requests for Quote (RFQs) when requested, reviewing supplier responses and providing market or pricing insight to support vendor selection
  • Process purchase order changes and amendments, ensuring alignment across requisitions, purchase orders, and invoices
  • Maintain accurate procurement and transactional records within Workday
  • Act as a key point of contact for procurement-related inquiries, providing process guidance to business units and suppliers
  • Identify purchasing activities requiring Legal review and coordinate accordingly
  • Flag trends or opportunities (e.g., recurring spend or supplier overlap) for consideration by procurement leadership

What You Bring to the Table

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Commerce, or a related field
  • 2–3 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, supply chain, or a transactional buyer role
  • Experience working in an ERP-enabled environment (Workday or similar)
  • Working knowledge of source-to-pay processes, including requisitions, purchase orders, change orders, and invoice matching
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to review documentation for accuracy and completeness
  • Procurement or supply chain certification (e.g., SCMP, CPSM, CPPM) is an asset
