We are looking for a Buyer to join our Supply Chain team! Our Buyer will be sourcing and purchasing grains and ingredients for our delicious, plant-powerful products.

Opportunities
In this role, you will be involved in purchasing organic grains from local and international suppliers that meet our quality standards. You will have experience in the manufacturing industry and a strong understanding of supply chain management, including building and maintaining relationships with suppliers and farmers.  You must have sound project management skills to juggle multiple projects and priorities in a dynamic and constantly evolving environment. You will also be involved with procurement process including PO’s, inventory management, contract negotiations, new supplier and farmer approvals and process improvement.

This role will give you the opportunity to build cross functional relationships internally and externally to the business. You will have the opportunity to work with an amazing team who has a direct impact on the product through purchasing as well as drive new initiatives and contribute in a meaningful way!

Experience
  • You have proven experience as a Grain Buyer or in a similar purchasing role
  • You have 3-5 years of sourcing and buying experience
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
Nice-to-Have
  • You have experience purchasing food ingredients
  • You have Agricultural Industry experience
  • You have post-secondary education in Supply Chain Management, Agriculture or Business

  • Champion procurement activities in a busy food production environment
  • Maintain appropriate inventory levels, manage material requirements and associated logistics
  • Source food ingredients and grains, ensuring items purchased follow established policies and procedures
  • Negotiate and track contracts with brokers, farmers or suppliers providing analytical data and reports
  • Generate savings on raw materials and logistics using commodity knowledge to support business objectives
  • Ensure the quality of materials, competitive pricing, and sufficient supply at all times

  • Ability to travel as needed to visit farms, suppliers, and attend industry events
Detailed Description of Duties:
  • Manage material requirements and transportation between suppliers and farmers
  • Maintain appropriate inventory levels following best practices for inventory purchasing and place orders for restocking as required
  • Source food ingredient products domestically and globally to meet forecasted supply needs
  • Negotiate contracts with suppliers, farmers and brokers as needed
  • Generate savings on raw materials and logistics by analyzing business opportunities compared to the current practices
  • Ensure the quality of materials, competitive pricing, and sufficient supply at all times
  • Ensure all logistical requirements in transporting of material meet specifications and delivery deadlines
  • Develop and use commodity knowledge to support business objectives
  • Ensure grains and ingredients are purchased following the established policies and procedures
  • Run reports and provide analytical data to support contract negotiations for purchasing
  • Track service performance from suppliers
  • Other duties as assigned
