ArhausBuyer Department: Purchasing Location: TB Arhaus Upholstery - Conover, NC Reports To: Sourcing and Purchasing Manager Employment Type: Full-Time, Non-Exempt, Hourly Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.; overtime as needed Position Summary The Buyer is responsible for ensuring the timely and cost-effective procurement of materials required to support upholstery manufacturing operations. This role manages assigned commodities through demand planning, inventory monitoring, purchase order execution, supplier communications, and material availability analysis to ensure production schedules are met. The Buyer proactively identifies supply risks, coordinates recovery actions, and works cross-functionally with production, scheduling, inventory, and supplier partners to minimize disruptions and maintain efficient operations. Key responsibilities include planning and purchasing fabric, leather, trims, and component kits based on forecasted demand, inventory levels, production schedules, and supplier lead times. The Buyer creates and manages purchase orders, monitors supplier performance, tracks shipments, maintains open-order reporting, and communicates delivery updates and material risks to stakeholders. This position regularly reviews inventory health, shortages, oversold positions, and replenishment requirements while implementing corrective actions to ensure continuity of supply and support customer commitments. The Buyer serves as the primary point of contact for assigned suppliers and commodities, maintaining accurate purchasing records and coordinating material flow throughout the organization. Additional responsibilities include preparing shipping documentation, managing office supply purchasing, supporting repair part requirements, and providing operational support across purchasing, inventory control, scheduling, and production functions. Success in this role requires strong analytical abilities, attention to detail, organizational skills, effective communication, and the ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Working independently under general supervision, the Buyer plays a critical role in maintaining material availability, supporting production efficiency, and contributing to the overall success of the business. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Serve as the primary owner for assigned commodities and maintain accountability for material availability, supplier communication, inventory health, and purchase order execution. Maintain and create purchase orders for plant operations. Plan and purchase materials required to support production schedules and forecasted demand. Procure fabric, leather, trims, and component kits utilizing demand forecasts, inventory levels, production schedules, and supplier lead times. Coordinate with suppliers regarding order status, shipment information, and delivery commitments. Monitor supplier performance and follow up on delivery commitments to ensure material availability. Review demand forecasts, inventory levels, production schedules, and supplier lead times to determine replenishment requirements. Identify and mitigate material shortages, oversold positions, and supply chain risks through proactive recovery actions. Maintain and distribute open order reporting and supplier status reporting. Communicate delivery delays, shortages, and supply risks to stakeholders and affected departments. Prepare bills of lading (BOLs) and other required shipping documentation. Review repair requirements and order replacement components as needed. Maintain office supply inventory and purchase office supplies as required. Provide support to purchasing, inventory control, scheduling, production, and other operational teams. Perform other duties as assigned.
