JOB TITLE: Buyer DEPARTMENT: Procurement REPORTS TO: Buyer Lead CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt Purpose and Scope The Buyer at SageMFG is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing materials and services essential for the company’s operations. This role involves collaborating with vendors, managing inventory levels, and ensuring timely deliveries to support production and other business needs. Key Responsibilities Identify and evaluate potential suppliers and vendors. Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and new suppliers. Negotiate contracts and terms to secure advantageous agreements. Generate and manage purchase orders accurately. Monitor order statues and ensure timely delivery of materials. Address any discrepancies or issues related to orders. Conduct cost analysis to identify opportunities for cost savings. Work closely with other departments to adhere to budgetary constraints. Monitor and maintain optimal inventory levels. Implement strategies to minimize excess or obsolete inventory. Collaborate with various departments, including production, logistics, and quality assurance, to understand their material needs. Stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, and pricing. Recommend alternative materials or suppliers to improve efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Email correspondence. Meeting attendance as assigned. Use of company software to perform day-to-day tasks. Strategic sourcing Coordination with Engineering department Bill of Material (BOM) verification Forecasting components Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Qualifications Bachelor’s of degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. Proven experience in procurement, purchasing, or a similar role. Strong negotiation and communication skills. Knowledge of supply chain management and procurement processes. Familiarity with ERP systems and procurement software. Negotiation skills. Analytical and strategic thinking. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Detail-oriented and organizational skills.
