Job Description: Heavy Equipment Dealership Location Manager Position Title: Location Manager / Branch Manager Department: Operations / Sales Reports To: General Manager Location: Johnston, Iowa Employment Type: Full-Time Position Overview The Location Manager is responsible for leading, managing, and directing all day-to-day operations at the dealership location. This role serves as the primary site leader responsible fordriving sales growth, delivering customer service, managing branch profitability (P&L), and leading cross-functional teams across Sales, Rental, Parts, and Service departments. The ideal candidate combines strong business leadership with deep knowledge of heavy equipment and construction/industrial markets. Key Responsibilities & Duties 1. Operational & Financial Management ● P&L Responsibility: Drive sales revenue, manage branch expenses, and achieve annual profitability and operational goals. ● Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist in preparing annual operational budgets and monthly revenue forecasts. ● Facility & Asset Management: Maintain site standards, ensure dealership safety compliance (OSHA/EPA), and manage yard inventory, equipment, and company assets. 2. Team Leadership & Talent Management ● Staff Leadership: Directly manage department supervisors and branch staff (Parts, Service, Sales, Logistics, Administration). ● Recruitment & Development: Lead hiring, onboarding, training, performance management, and career development for local personnel. ● Culture & Safety: Champion a culture of safety, continuous improvement, high morale, and teamwork. 3. Customer Relations & Market Business Development ● Client Engagement: Maintain strong relationships with key fleet accounts, local contractors, key industry partners, and OEM representatives. ● Issue Resolution: Serve as the final point of escalation for customer complaints or service concerns to protect dealership reputation and client retention. ● Market Expansion: Work alongside the sales team to identify market opportunities and expand equipment sales, rentals, and product support in the region. 4. OEM & Product Line Management ● Maintain productive working relationships with major equipment manufacturers [XCMG]. ● Ensure dealership meets manufacturer warranty, technician certification, and branding standards. Qualifications & Requirements ● Education: High school diploma required; Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, Operations, or related field preferred. ● Experience: ○ 5+ years of progressive leadership experience in heavy equipment, commercial vehicles, agricultural machinery, or industrial equipment sales/service. ○ Proven track record in P&L management, financial reporting, and operational planning. ● Skills: ○ Strong leadership, coaching, and team-building abilities. ○ In-depth understanding of heavy equipment sales, rental inventory management, and dealership parts/service workflows. ○ Excellent communication, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills. ○ Proficiency with Dealership Management Systems (DMS) [go high level] and Microsoft Office Suite. ● Certifications/Licenses: Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (CDL is a plus). Work Environment & Physical Demands ● Split between an office setting, active dealership workshop/service bay, and equipment yard. ● Occasional travel to customer job sites, regional meetings, or manufacturer training sessions.
