Automotive Fleet Technician

Job Summary Repair Today, LLC is hiring experienced automotive technicians to support major government fleet operations, including D.C. Public Schools (DCPS) and the United States Postal Service (USPS) . This is steady, high-volume, year-round fleet work focused on gas-powered vans, buses, pickups, cutaways, and light/medium-duty commercial vehicles . Our technicians work primarily in a mobile service environment at government fleet yards and customer locations using fully equipped company service vehicles. No diesel work. No retail customers. Consistent fleet work and hours. Shift: 4:00 AM – 12:00 PM What You’ll Do Perform preventive maintenance services on gas-powered fleet vehicles Diagnose check engine lights and drivability concerns Perform OBD and computer-based diagnostics Diagnose electrical systems, wiring, fuses, relays, starting and charging systems Diagnose and repair no-start conditions Repair brake systems including pads, rotors, calipers, wheel seals, and related components Diagnose and repair steering and suspension systems Diagnose and repair A/C systems including vacuum, recharge, leak detection, compressors, condensers, evaporators, and electrical controls Perform engine performance and drivability diagnostics Replace and repair starters, alternators, batteries, belts, hoses, ignition components, and other mechanical components Use professional diagnostic equipment and scan tools Perform on-site/mobile repairs at fleet locations Complete vehicle inspections, work orders, and detailed repair reports Identify additional safety and mechanical concerns during repairs Maintain a clean and safe work environment Communicate professionally with supervisors and fleet personnel Requirements 3+ years of professional automotive repair experience Strong experience with gasoline-powered vehicles Strong diagnostic ability in engine performance, electrical, and drivability Must be capable of diagnosing vehicles independently, not simply replacing parts Experience with fleet vans, trucks, buses, or commercial vehicles preferred Experience with Ford, Chevrolet/GMC, Ram, and Nissan fleet vehicles is a plus ASE certification strongly preferred Must have a valid driver’s license Must have your own professional hand tools Must be dependable and punctual Must be able to consistently report for a 4:00 AM start Must be comfortable working outdoors and at multiple fleet locations Must be able to work independently in a mobile service environment Must accurately document diagnoses and completed repairs The Technician We’re Looking For We need technicians who can be handed a vehicle with a complaint such as: No start Check engine light A/C not cooling Electrical problem Brake concern Vehicle running poorly Suspension or steering concern …and independently diagnose the root cause and complete the proper repair . This position is intended for experienced technicians. Applicants whose experience is primarily limited to oil changes, tires, or basic maintenance may not have the diagnostic background required for this role.
