We currently have an excellent career opportunity for an experienced Assistant Terminal Manager at our Cordele, GA facility.
Position Summary
The Assistant Terminal Manager plays a critical leadership role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the terminal. This position partners closely with the Terminal Manager to ensure safe, efficient, and profitable operations while delivering exceptional service to customers and drivers.
The Assistant Terminal Manager serves as a hands-on leader who helps oversee dispatch, driver management, customer service, safety compliance, maintenance coordination, and staff development. This role is ideal for an operations professional looking to advance into a senior leadership position within the transportation industry.
The terminal operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, and the successful candidate must be prepared to lead by example in a fast-paced operational environment.
Responsibilities
• Assist the Terminal Manager in overseeing daily terminal operations to ensure safe, efficient, and profitable performance.
• Support the delivery of customer products safely and on time while maintaining outstanding customer communication and service.
• Help coordinate operational activities to maximize utilization of drivers, equipment, and terminal resources.
• Monitor and assist with driver scheduling, dispatch activities, routing, and load optimization.
• Work closely with drivers to address concerns, improve productivity, and support driver retention efforts.
• Assist with driver performance management, including coaching, counseling, corrective actions, and ongoing development.
• Support safety and compliance initiatives to ensure adherence to DOT, FMCSA, and company policies.
• Assist in the hiring, onboarding, orientation, and training of drivers and terminal personnel.
• Ensure timely communication between drivers, customers, and internal departments.
• Partner with the maintenance and tank wash teams to maintain operational efficiency and minimize equipment downtime.
• Review operational processes and recommend improvements to increase efficiency and service levels.
• Assist with payroll accuracy through proper and timely dispatch execution.
• Support customer retention efforts by maintaining strong relationships and resolving service-related issues.
• Help implement company policies, procedures, and best practices throughout the terminal.
• Serve as the Terminal Manager's backup and provide leadership coverage during absences.
