Assistant Store Manager

Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and proactive Assistant Store Manager to join our retail team! Responsibilities Assist the Store Manager in overseeing daily store operations, including sales, inventory control, and merchandising. Lead and motivate the retail sales team to meet and exceed sales targets through effective coaching, training, and performance management. Manage employee orientation, onboarding, and ongoing training to ensure team members are knowledgeable about products, policies, and customer service standards. Conduct interviews and participate in recruiting efforts to build a talented and diverse team. Handle payroll processing, bookkeeping tasks, and cash handling procedures accurately and efficiently. Supervise inventory management activities such as stock replenishment, purchasing, pricing adjustments, and inventory control to optimize product availability. Utilize POS (Point of Sale) systems for sales transactions, returns, and exchanges while maintaining excellent customer service standards. Oversee shift management by coordinating schedules, delegating tasks, and ensuring operational efficiency during all hours of operation. Implement merchandising strategies to enhance product presentation and maximize sales opportunities. Maintain effective communication with staff regarding store policies, safety procedures, and operational updates. Support management in budgeting efforts and operational planning to achieve store goals. Qualifications Proven experience as an Assistant Manager or in a supervisory role within the retail industry; retail store product knowledge is highly valued. Strong leadership skills with demonstrated success in managing retail sales teams and supervising staff. Excellent communication skills; bilingual or multilingual abilities are a plus for serving diverse customer bases. Proficiency with POS systems, inventory management software, and basic math skills for cash handling and sales calculations. Experience with recruiting, employee orientation, training & development initiatives. Knowledge of retail math including pricing strategies, sales analysis, budgeting, and operational metrics. Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively through strong organizational skills and time management. Familiarity with grocery store or wireless sales environments is advantageous but not required. Demonstrated managerial communication skills with a focus on leadership development and team building.
