Base salary: $45,000–$50,000 per year, depending on experience Position Summary We are a growing manufacturing company seeking an organized, proactive Buyer / Purchasing Coordinator to support daily purchasing and keep materials on schedule. This role focuses on purchasing specified parts from established or customer-designated suppliers, confirming pricing and availability, issuing purchase orders, and following up delivery. You will work from provided part numbers, purchasing lists, and supplier information, including projects with approximately 200–300 BOM part numbers. Success requires accuracy, consistent follow-up, and clear communication with suppliers, customers, and internal teams. Key Responsibilities Request supplier quotations and confirm part numbers, quantities, pricing, stock availability, lead times, and purchasing terms. Compare quotations for specified items and obtain internal approvals before ordering. Create and issue accurate purchase orders and obtain supplier order acknowledgments. Track open orders, promised ship dates, and expected arrival dates; follow up regularly until receipt. Identify shortages, missed commitments, and delivery risks early; coordinate expediting and escalate issues with clear status and proposed next steps. Communicate with customers to clarify designated suppliers, customer-allocated purchasing arrangements, and other purchasing instructions. Maintain an accurate Excel or purchasing-system tracker showing order status, quantities, supplier commitments, and outstanding issues. Coordinate with production, receiving, and accounting to resolve quantity, delivery, and invoice discrepancies. Keep supplier quotations, approvals, purchase orders, and correspondence organized and current. Qualifications At least 1 year of experience in purchasing, order management, or supplier coordination; manufacturing or industrial experience preferred. Experience requesting quotations, processing purchase orders, and following up with suppliers. Working proficiency in Excel, including sorting, filtering, and maintaining detailed tracking sheets. Strong written and verbal communication skills for supplier and customer correspondence. Strong attention to detail, especially with part numbers, quantities, prices, and dates. Ability to prioritize multiple orders, follow up proactively, and communicate problems promptly. Comfortable working with project managers to support their purchasing needs. Preferred Qualifications Experience purchasing electrical or mechanical components. Familiarity with supplier lead times, minimum order quantities, and order acknowledgments. Role Scope Part specifications and approved supplier information are provided. Technical interpretation of BOMs, engineering design, and technical selection of substitute products are handled by the project managers or customer contact. The Buyer confirms purchasing details and routes technical questions for approval. What Success Looks Like Purchase orders and tracking records are accurate and current. Supplier commitments are confirmed and followed up consistently. Delivery risks are reported early enough for the team to respond. Purchasing follows customer requirements and internal approvals.
