Assistant Manager

Overview We are seeking a dynamic and proactive Assistant Manager to join our retail team, driving operational excellence and delivering exceptional customer service. Duties Assist the Store Manager in supervising daily store operations, including opening and closing procedures, cash handling, and POS system management Lead and motivate the retail sales team to meet or exceed sales goals through effective coaching, training, and performance management Oversee inventory management activities such as stock replenishment, stock control, merchandising, and inventory audits to ensure accuracy and availability of products Support recruiting efforts by participating in interviewing prospective employees and facilitating onboarding processes Manage employee scheduling, shift assignments, and payroll processing to ensure optimal staffing levels Ensure excellent customer service by addressing customer inquiries promptly, resolving issues effectively, and maintaining high standards of communication and phone etiquette Implement merchandising strategies and pricing adjustments to maximize sales opportunities while maintaining store presentation standards Monitor operational activities including cashiering, cash handling procedures, bookkeeping, and budget adherence to ensure smooth store functioning Conduct training sessions on POS systems, retail math calculations, product knowledge, safety protocols, and management best practices Enforce health and safety policies while supervising team members to create a safe shopping environment Requirements Proven experience in retail management or assistant manager roles within the retail industry with supervisory responsibilities Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage teams effectively and foster a positive work environment Excellent communication skills—bilingual or multilingual abilities are highly desirable—along with managerial communication expertise Demonstrated proficiency in POS systems, inventory control software, payroll processing, bookkeeping, and basic math skills Experience with recruiting, interviewing, onboarding new employees, and conducting employee orientation sessions Knowledge of retail sales techniques including upselling, pricing strategies, merchandising, and promotional activities Ability to handle cash transactions accurately while adhering to cash handling policies Organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently in a fast-paced setting Familiarity with wireless sales environments or grocery store operations is a plus but not required Strong time management skills coupled with supervisory experience in retail or grocery settings Join us as an Assistant Manager where your enthusiasm for retail excellence will inspire your team to succeed!
