Assistant General Manager

Responsibilities Assist the General Manager in overseeing daily store operations, including sales management, inventory control, and merchandising. Lead and supervise retail staff by providing training, coaching, and performance feedback to foster a motivated and efficient team. Manage employee orientation, interviewing, recruiting efforts, and onboarding processes to ensure a strong team foundation. Handle customer service inquiries with professionalism and enthusiasm, resolving issues promptly to enhance customer satisfaction. Oversee POS (Point of Sale) systems for transactions such as sales processing, cash handling, and cashiering duties while maintaining accuracy in cash register operations. Coordinate purchasing activities, pricing strategies, stock replenishment, and inventory management to optimize product availability and profitability. Support operational tasks including payroll processing, bookkeeping, budgeting, and ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures. Implement effective merchandising techniques and manage stocking routines to create an appealing shopping environment. Supervise shift management responsibilities such as scheduling staff coverage during peak hours and managing store opening/closing procedures. Utilize strong communication skills to facilitate managerial meetings, team development sessions, and cross-department collaboration. Experience Proven managerial experience in retail or grocery store environments with a focus on supervising teams and managing daily operations. Demonstrated success in retail sales management with skills in sales strategies, customer service excellence, and team leadership. Experience with inventory management systems (POS systems), purchasing procedures, and cash handling protocols. Strong background in employee recruitment, interviewing techniques, training & development initiatives. Familiarity with retail math including pricing calculations, budgeting processes, and basic financial analysis. Multilingual or bilingual abilities are highly valued for effective communication with diverse customer bases and team members. Previous experience in grocery or retail store environments that require organizational skills such as stocking, merchandising, inventory control, and shift supervision is preferred.
