Assistant Buyer

Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Assistant Buyer to join our dynamic procurement team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the inbound purchasing process for a large retail customer program, ensuring that our inventory levels meet demand while optimizing costs. This position requires a strong understanding of supply chain management and proficiency in our ERP systems. The Assistant Buyer will collaborate with vendors, and contribute to the overall efficiency of our procurement operations. Responsibilities Assist in sourcing and procuring materials and products necessary for operations. Manage inventory control and ensure optimal stock levels are maintained. Collaborate with suppliers to negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts. Utilize ERP system for purchasing activities. Analyze market trends and supplier performance to inform sourcing decisions. Support production planning by coordinating with logistics and supply chain teams. Maintain accurate records of purchases, contracts, and supplier communications. Participate in e-commerce initiatives to enhance online purchasing strategies. Conduct regular audits of inventory management processes to identify areas for improvement. Assist in merchandising efforts by providing insights on product availability and pricing. Experience Proficiency in ERP systems including SAP ERP, JD Edwards, Oracle EBS, or AS400 is highly desirable. Experience in materials management, inventory control, and logistics within a supply chain context. Strong negotiation skills with a proven track record in procurement and sourcing activities. Familiarity with MRP principles and production planning processes is beneficial. Knowledge of e-commerce platforms and their integration into purchasing strategies is an advantage. Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret data related to pricing and supplier performance. Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with internal teams and external suppliers.
