Apparel Buyer and Clothing Department Co-Lead
Spence Hardware & Supply, Inc.Job Summary Spence Hardware is seeking a Full-Time dynamic and motivated Buyer for our Apparel, Boot, and Toy Department at our Farm and Ranch Hardware Store. As our Apparel Buyer and Department Lead, you'll be in charge of selecting and ordering clothing, outerwear, shoes/boots, and toys to fit our store's style. You'll need to be a bit of a detective, always on the lookout for the hottest new trends and the best deals from our suppliers. The ideal candidate has a knack for style and knows how to put together an outfit that makes our customers feel like a million bucks. But, it's not just about the clothes. You'll also be leading a small team of folks who keep the apparel department looking sharp and help customers find exactly what they are looking for. This is a lead management position with performance bonuses. Responsibilities Lead and supervise the department team, providing guidance and support to enhance performance and productivity. Negotiate effectively with vendors and partners to optimize product offerings and pricing strategies. Stay abreast of the latest trends through industry reports, social media, and trade shows Seek out new suppliers and build relationships Review and evaluate the current offerings available from suppliers Determine which goods to purchase and in what quantities to ensure products remain in stock at all times Create purchase orders and work with our Freight and Receiving Department Lead Coordinate and place special order purchases when applicable Negotiate purchase terms with suppliers Analyze inventory data to identify strong and weak sellers Generate reports and forecasts Manage inventory, including backstock areas Assist with marketing and merchandising of the department to display and promote items Qualifications Proven experience in retail management or a similar leadership role is required. Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to influence outcomes positively. Proficient in supervising teams, with a track record of achieving sales targets. Experience in cash handling processes and familiarity with cash register operations. Great communicator and natural leader.
