Job Overview Join our dedicated emergency response team as a 911 Dispatcher, where your quick thinking and exceptional communication skills will be vital in providing life-saving assistance to those in need. In this fast-paced role, you will coordinate emergency services, manage critical information, and ensure rapid response to a wide range of urgent situations. Your ability to stay calm under pressure, utilize advanced dispatching technology, and deliver compassionate customer service will make a meaningful difference in our community’s safety and well-being. Responsibilities Receive emergency calls via telephone and radio communication systems, accurately assessing the situation and prioritizing responses. Utilize Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) software to log incidents, dispatch appropriate emergency units, and track response progress. Provide clear, concise instructions to callers for immediate actions while dispatching law enforcement, fire services, or medical personnel. Maintain detailed records of all communications, incident reports, and dispatch activities with excellent writing and transcription skills. Coordinate with law enforcement agencies using police dispatch procedures and analysis skills to ensure swift and effective response. Manage GPS and GIS (Geographic Information System) tools to locate callers precisely and optimize response routes. Handle phone triage by gathering critical information from distressed callers while demonstrating professionalism and empathy through phone etiquette. Requirements Excellent communication skills with the ability to remain calm under pressure; strong negotiation and conflict management abilities are a plus. Demonstrated technical proficiency in telephony systems, typing speed, and radio communication systems. Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously with analysis skills for effective decision-making during emergencies. High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications related to emergency services or telecommunications are advantageous.
