Yard Switcher

Summary: We are seeking a reliable and safety-focused Yard Switcher to join our team. This position will be responsible for safely maneuvering trailers and equipment within the yard. The ideal candidate will have experience in yard switching, and be comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. This position is critical to maintaining an efficient flow of materials and supporting overall operational product Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Operate trucks and other designated vehicles to move trailers within the yard, ensuring timely delivery to loading docks or designated parking spots. Arrange trailers to optimize space utilization and facilitate efficient loading and unloading operations. Conduct routine inspections of trucks and trailers; report any defects or issues to maintenance personnel. Maintain accurate records of trailer movements and relevant notes. Ensure proper placement and securement of carts to prevent damage during transportation. Follow all safety protocols, regulations, and operating procedures while operating vehicles. Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required. Collaborate with site manager and supervisors to prioritize tasks and communicate yard activity status. Adapt to changing priorities and work in various weather conditions as needed. Qualifications/Skills: Valid driver's license with a clean driving record Minimum of 2 years’ experience operating yard trucks or similar heavy equipment required. Ability to operate vehicles and in a safe and efficient manner, including backing and maneuvering in tight spaces Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions accurately Physical fitness and stamina required for prolonged periods of standing, walking, and operating vehicles Effective verbal communication skills to communicate with team members and supervisors Strong commitment to safety practices and procedures. Knowledge of OSHA regulations and forklift safety standards Ability to lift, carry, and maneuver heavy loads (up to 50 pounds) and work in a physically demanding environment that may involve bending, stooping, and repetitive tasks Must be able to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and snow.
