Yard Spotter / Heavy Equipment Operation

Job Summary Join our dynamic team as a Yard Spotter and Heavy Equipment Operator, where you'll play a vital role in maintaining efficient yard operations and ensuring the safe movement of freight and equipment. This energetic position involves coordinating the precise placement of trailers and heavy machinery, utilizing GPS navigation systems, and adhering to strict safety standards. Your expertise in truck driving, equipment operation, and logistics cargo handling will keep our operations running smoothly while supporting a safe and productive work environment. Responsibilities Safely maneuver and position trailers using yard spotter equipment, ensuring accurate placement for loading, unloading, or storage. Operate heavy equipment such as forklifts, flatbeds, tankers, or other machinery to assist with cargo handling and yard organization. Use GPS navigation tools and over-the-road (OTR) driving routes knowledge to support delivery schedules and route planning. Load and unload freight efficiently while complying with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations, hazardous materials regulations, and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards. Assist with automobile transportation tasks, including securing vehicles for transport and ensuring proper trailer connections for tractor-trailers. Conduct manual handling tasks safely when managing freight or equipment, following hazard prevention protocols. Maintain accurate logs of yard activities, trailer movements, and equipment usage in compliance with safety regulations. Experience Proven experience in commercial truck driving or delivery driving within logistics or transportation environments. Familiarity with refrigerated trailers, flatbed trucks, tanker trucks, and hazardous materials handling is highly desirable. Knowledge of truck loading and unloading procedures, including freight management and cargo security. Experience operating heavy equipment such as forklifts or yard spotters in a busy yard setting. Understanding of FMCSA regulations, hazardous materials regulations, DOT standards, and safety protocols related to over-the-road (OTR) routes. Ability to navigate using GPS systems accurately while managing route driving responsibilities. Strong manual handling skills combined with a safety-first approach to all yard operations.
