Job Overview We are seeking a proactive and attentive Yard Spotter to join our logistics team! In this vital role, you will be responsible for safely maneuvering tractor-trailers and freight within the yard, ensuring efficient vehicle placement and movement to support seamless loading, unloading, and delivery operations. Your keen eye for safety and excellent driving skills will help maintain a secure and organized yard environment. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to be a key player in our transportation network, supporting the timely movement of freight across various routes. Seeking Class A Driver with 3 months or more tractor trailer experience to work has a local Yard Spotter. This is a 2nd shift position, and shift is about 10 hours long. Monday- Friday schedule. A six day maybe added during peak season. Start time are between 10am and 12pm shift last about 8 to 10 hours long with mandatory overtime during peak season. Responsibilities Safely operate yard trucks and tractor-trailers to position trailers for loading, unloading, or transfer within the yard Use GPS navigation systems to accurately locate and route trailers within designated areas Assist with trailer coupling and uncoupling, ensuring proper connection according to safety standards Conduct visual inspections of trailers for damage, hazardous materials, or compliance with safety regulations before movement Follow FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards during all operations Load and unload freight using manual handling techniques while adhering to safety protocols Maintain clear communication with warehouse staff, drivers, and dispatchers to coordinate trailer movements efficiently Skills Experience operating refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, or tractor-trailers in a logistics environment Knowledge of GPS navigation tools and route driving principles for over-the-road (OTR) routes Familiarity with commercial truck driving regulations including Hazmat (hazardous materials) handling and hazardous goods transportation regulations Ability to perform manual handling tasks safely when load & unload activities are required Strong understanding of truck loading/unloading procedures and cargo handling best practices Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with manual transmission experience preferred Knowledge of FMCSA regulations, DOT compliance, and dangerous goods transportation standards Excellent driving skills with a focus on safety, precision maneuvering, and route driving experience Ability to work in physically demanding environments while maintaining attention to detail Join us as a Yard Spotter and become an essential part of our logistics operations!
