Georgetown Paper StockJob Summary Join our dynamic logistics team as a Yard Jockey, where you'll play a vital role in efficiently maneuvering and positioning trailers within our yard to ensure smooth operations. As a Yard Jockey, you'll operate specialized trucks designed for short-distance movements, expertly handling refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, and other freight types. Your expertise in commercial truck driving and adherence to safety regulations will keep our yard organized and compliant. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to showcase your driving skills while supporting the seamless flow of freight in a fast-paced environment. Duties Safely maneuver tractor-trailers, including refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, and tankers within the yard using GPS navigation systems. Load and unload freight from trailers with precision, ensuring cargo safety and compliance with hazardous materials regulations when applicable. Assist with the movement of trailers for delivery routes, over-the-road (OTR) driving routes, or storage purposes. Follow FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations, DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations, and hazardous materials handling procedures at all times. Conduct routine inspections of trucks and trailers to identify maintenance needs or safety concerns before movement. Maintain accurate logs of trailer movements, load details, and yard activities in compliance with company policies. Collaborate with drivers and warehouse personnel to optimize trailer placement and facilitate efficient loading/unloading processes. Skills Proven experience in commercial truck driving, especially with tractor-trailers, refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, or tankers. Strong knowledge of GPS navigation systems for route planning within the yard and surrounding areas. Familiarity with logistics cargo handling, load & unload procedures, and freight management. Ability to operate manual transmission trucks safely and efficiently. Understanding of FMCSA regulations, DOT rules, hazardous materials regulations, and safety standards for dangerous goods. Skilled in manual handling techniques for trailer movement and cargo management. Excellent driving record with experience in route driving and delivery driving scenarios.
