With six locations in the United States and Canada, Triad Metals is actively seeking a Yard Inventory Manager. Triad Metals International is currently seeking a Yard Inventory Manager for its Processing and Distribution facility in Petersburg, VA. The Yard Inventory Manager is responsible for overseeing all outdoor yard materialcontrol functions within a highvolume steel processing environment. This role manages the receipt, identification, storage, movement, and documentation of raw materials-including Hbeams, sheet pile, plate, and structural shapes-as well as finished products staged for shipment. The ideal candidate brings strong organizational skills, experience with heavy industrial material handling, and a commitment to safety and accuracy. Key Responsibilities and Duties Yard Operations Management - Lead daily yard operations, ensuring efficient flow of raw and finished steel materials. Maintain clean, organized, and clearly labeled storage zones. Inbound Material Control - Oversee unloading, inspection, and verification of incoming steel products. Confirm counts, sizes, grades, heat numbers, and mill certifications. Inventory AccuracyTraceability - Maintain realtime inventory records; perform cycle counts; reconcile discrepancies; ensure full traceability from receipt through processing and shipment. Material IdentificationTagging - Ensure all materials are properly tagged with grade, size, heat number, job assignment, and yard location. Yard LayoutMaterial Flow - Optimize yard layout for safe equipment movement, crane access, and efficient staging for processing centers. Coordination With Production - Work closely with plasma, laser, beveling, and fabrication departments to stage raw materials and move finished goods according to production priorities. Finished Goods Handling - Manage bundling, staging, and preparation of completed parts for outbound shipment or internal transfer. Equipment Oversight - Ensure safe operation and daily inspection of forklifts, yard cranes, loaders, and rigging equipment. Coordinate maintenance and repairs. SafetyCompliance - Enforce OSHA and company safety standards. Conduct daily yard safety checks and ensure proper rigging, lifting, and loadsecurement practices. Team Leadership - Supervise yard personnel; assign tasks; train staff on safe material handling, inventory procedures, and equipment operation. Qualifications Experience in steel yard operations or heavy industrial materialhandling Strong knowledge of structural steel products (Hbeams, sheet pile, plate, shapes) Proficiency with inventory management systems, Enmark is a plus Ability to operate and oversee forklifts and yard cranes Strong organizational and communication skills Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions Preferred Qualifications Experience in steel processing, fabrication, or distribution ERP experience Prior supervisory experience Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
