Yard Hostler

Job Overview As a Yard Hostler, you’ll keep freight moving by safely positioning trailers and commercial vehicles around the yard and supporting efficient dock operations. You’ll inspect equipment, follow assigned routes, and coordinate trailer movements with the team. This role will involve refrigerated trailers. Responsibilities Move tractor-trailers between yard locations, docks, and staging areas using safe driving practices. Inspect trailers and vehicles before and after movement; report damage, hazards, or equipment concerns promptly. Support logistics cargo handling, including truck loading and unloading and manual handling when required. Follow site procedures and applicable Department of Transportation (DOT) and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations. Your impact: Accurate trailer placement helps dock teams access freight safely and keeps shipments moving through the facility. Skills Required: Safe driving ability and experience operating commercial trucks, tractor-trailers, or other commercial vehicles; familiarity with manual transmission is required. Preferred: Yard hostling, truck driving, commercial driving, delivery driving, route driving, delivery driver experience, or over-the-road (OTR) driving routes. Knowledge of freight, load and unload procedures, and logistics cargo handling; ability to perform manual handling. Familiarity with refrigerated trailers.
