Yard Driver

Job Description: Monday - Friday, 6:00 PM - 2:30 AM Magnum is hiring a Yard Driver/Freight Handler to support daily terminal operations by safely moving trailers throughout the yard and dock areas. This role is essential to keeping freight moving efficiently while maintaining a safe and organized yard environment. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys a mix of LTL yard and dock operations, and trailer management. What You'll Do Safely operate a semi-truck and trailer in accordance with company policies and state regulations Move trailers in and out of dock doors and around the yard efficiently Perform daily yard checks and maintain awareness of trailer locations and conditions Coordinate trailer repairs and communicate maintenance needs Track and inventory trailer equipment Oversee and support daily yard operations Back trailers into docks and move equipment between terminals or drop yards Sweep and clean trailers as needed Couple and uncouple trailers, including connecting/disconnecting air and electrical lines and operating fifth-wheel locks Assist on the LTL dock moving freight as needed This is a full-time position with a complete benefits package, including: Health Insurance with HSA/FSA Options Company Paid Life Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance 401(k) Retirement Plan + Company Match Paid Time Off (PTO) and Paid Holidays Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Optional Supplemental Coverage Available: Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, Accident/Hospital Confinement Insurance, Critical Illness/Cancer Insurance Job Requirements: We are seeking a dependable and safety-focused individual who works well independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced transportation environment. Ideal candidates can: Communicate effectively with Dispatch, Driver Supervisors, and Terminal Coordinators to resolve issues such as damages, shortages, or freight discrepancies Assist with operational projects and support additional duties as assigned Help maintain a clean and organized building, yard, and work environment Remain calm, professional, and solution-focused during high-pressure situations Work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining productivity and accountability Demonstrate a positive attitude and cooperative approach while working with team members Maintain strong attention to detail and accuracy when completing work tasks Thrive in a fast-paced environment with changing operational demands Pass a pre-employment drug test as part of Magnum’s commitment to a safe and drug-free workplace Education & Experience High School Diploma or GED required CDL-A (preferred, not required) Work Environment & Physical Requirements This position is performed in a combination of yard, dock, and outdoor environments, where employees may be exposed to dust, noise, fumes, and varying weather conditions, including extreme temperatures. The role requires frequent movement and physical activity, including standing, walking, climbing, bending, twisting, squatting, lifting, and operating equipment or vehicles. Employees must be able to safely lift, push, pull, or carry up to 75 pounds and maintain strong visual awareness at all times. Work is performed outdoors approximately 50% of the time in a fast-paced operational setting.
