Yard Checker- 3PL

Locations: Vernon, CA (5685 Alcoa Ave) and Commerce, CA (6315 Bandini Blvd) Pay: $24.00 per hour [plus overtime for shifts over 8 hours] Schedule: 24/7 operation; 8-hour or 12-hour shifts available, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays About the Role QX Logistix is looking for organized, detail-oriented Yard Checkers to join our yard team. You will check trucks in and out of our warehouse, verify that equipment and paperwork match, and keep accurate records of every load and container that moves through our gate. This role is key to keeping our shipping and receiving running smoothly. Responsibilities Check in drivers and direct them to park on the street and report to the shipping window before entering the yard Once a driver is assigned a door, photograph the driver’s license, tractor number, trailer number, and license plate Log all incoming and outgoing traffic and enter all information in the yard log as soon as possible Photograph the inside of loaded trailers before sealing, then apply seals and photograph the seal number and the sealed trailer with its trailer number visible Make sure trailers are sealed by the yard checker, not the driver, and replace any driver-applied seal so the load can be photographed and paperwork updated Photograph Bills of Lading (BOLs) with the QX red stamp visible Verify container, trailer, and seal numbers against paperwork and confirm seals are intact Open and inspect containers and trailers reported as empty before they leave, and send drivers back to dispatch when equipment or paperwork doesn’t match Check yard tractors (hostlers) leaving the facility, verifying seals on loaded units and inspecting empty units Process empty container releases by photographing the container number, tractor, driver’s license, signed and stamped release form, POD, and the empty container Follow carrier logging procedures, including which parcel carriers (USPS, UPS, FedEx Ground/Express, DHL) do not need to be logged and which carriers must always be logged (R&L, FedEx Freight, SAIA, TForce, XPO, and all others) What We Provide Paid training on all yard and gate procedures Company phone and iPad Orange safety vest Badge with full access to our premises Requirements Comfortable using a smartphone and iPad to take photos and enter data Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow written procedures exactly Able to communicate clearly and professionally with truck drivers; bilingual English/Spanish is a plus Able to stand and walk for long periods, work outdoors in all weather, and open trailer and container doors Reliable transportation and punctuality Able to work nights, weekends, and holidays as scheduled Preferred Experience Prior experience as a yard checker, gate clerk, or shipping and receiving clerk Experience in a warehouse, logistics, or trucking environment Familiarity with BOLs, seals, and container and trailer numbers Pay: $23.00 - $24.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 – 50.0 per week Benefits: Dental insurance Health insurance Paid time off Vision insurance Experience: yard checker: 3 years (Required) trucking environment: 3 years (Required) Language: English (Required) Shift availability: Day Shift (Preferred) Night Shift (Preferred) Overnight Shift (Preferred) Work Location: In person
