Overview We are seeking an experienced Working Drapery Workroom Manager specializing in custom drapery to lead our production team. This role involves overseeing the fabrication of bespoke window treatments, ensuring that all projects meet high-quality standards and are completed efficiently. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, technical expertise in sewing and materials handling, and a passion for delivering superior craftsmanship. Duties Manage daily operations of the drapery workroom, coordinating workflow and production schedules to meet client deadlines. Supervise and train staff on proper use of measuring instruments, sewing techniques, and safety standards. Oversee fabric and material handling, ensuring proper storage, inventory control, and adherence to quality standards. Ensure all sewing processes—including garment construction, upholstery work, serging, embroidery, and manual cutting—are performed accurately and efficiently. Monitor dimensional measurements and fabric materials to guarantee precision in each project. Maintain compliance with safety standards in production environments and enforce proper equipment operation. Conduct quality inspections at various stages of production to uphold craftsmanship excellence. Collaborate with design teams and clients to interpret specifications and translate them into finished products. Optimize machine operation for industrial sewing machines and other equipment to maximize productivity. Document processes, maintain production records, and implement continuous improvements. Experience Proven experience managing a custom drapery or upholstery workroom with a focus on high-quality fabric treatments. Extensive knowledge of measuring instruments, fabric materials, and upholstery techniques. Skilled in sewing machine operation—including industrial sewing machines—and garment construction. Familiarity with manual fabric cutting methods and materials handling procedures. Strong understanding of quality standards in production environments and safety protocols. Experience with various sewing techniques such as serging, embroidery, and seam construction. Warehouse experience is advantageous for inventory management purposes. Ability to lead a team effectively while maintaining attention to detail and craftsmanship excellence.
