Pacific Outdoor Living is experiencing significant growth throughout Southern California, and we are seeking an experienced Wholesale Building Materials & Sales Manager to help build and lead our growing materials business. We’re looking for a hands-on, business-minded professional who can manage daily operations, serve contractors and internal construction teams, oversee purchasing and inventory, and develop new sales opportunities. This individual will initially take an active role in counter sales and order management while establishing efficient systems and procedures to support long-term business growth. Performance Objectives Manage daily wholesale building materials sales, purchasing, inventory, and operations. Serve as the primary contact for Pacific Outdoor Living and outside contractors, handling quotes, orders, pickups, and deliveries. Oversee vendor relationships, purchasing costs, inventory replenishment, receiving, and material transfers between locations. Implement and maintain POS systems, pricing records, inventory tracking, and Excel reports to monitor sales and profitability. Develop contractor relationships, increase repeat business, and improve customer service, sales, and gross profit margins. Establish operating procedures, train staff, and grow the business toward potential advancement into a General Manager position. Capabilities / Key Competencies Sales & Customer Service: Builds contractor relationships, understands customer needs, prepares quotes, and develops repeat business. Operations Management: Organizes daily activities, establishes procedures, and maintains efficient workflows. Purchasing & Inventory: Coordinates orders, monitors stock levels, manages vendors, and maintains accurate inventory records. Business Acumen: Understands purchasing costs, selling prices, gross profit margins, and business profitability. Technology & Reporting: Uses POS systems, inventory software, and Excel spreadsheets to track orders, sales, and operating results. Leadership & Accountability: Takes ownership, communicates professionally, solves problems independently, and supervises staff as the business grows. Education & Experience Experience in a building materials yard, landscape supply yard, lumberyard, masonry supplier, hardscape supplier, or similar business preferred. Background in counter sales, wholesale sales, purchasing, inventory management, or branch operations.
