Wellness Arts Transportation Driver - Part Time/As Needed

As a Wellness Arts Transportation Driver, you will provide safe, reliable transportation for residents participating in dining experiences, cultural events, shopping trips, recreation, day trips, and other community outings throughout Winston-Salem and surrounding areas. This role is more than driving, you will be a welcoming, supportive presence who helps make each outing comfortable, enjoyable, and meaningful. This flexible, as-needed position may be a great fit for someone who enjoys working with older adults, values variety, and has availability for a mix of daytime, evening, weekend, special-event, and occasional extended-trip assignments based on program needs. Status Non Exempt Job Relationships Reports to the Wellness Arts Manager Interaction with: Staff, residents, residents families, visitors, public, staff, volunteers. Types of Communication: verbal, written, emails, direct/indirect from residents, residents families. Duties and Responsibilities Warm, dependable, and service-minded approach, with the ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with older adults, families, staff, volunteers, and community partners. Comfortable assisting residents with boarding and exiting vehicles and with mobility devices, including walkers and wheelchairs, in accordance with established training, and safety procedures. Availability to accept varied assignments, which may include days, evenings, weekends, occasional holidays, day trips, special events, and occasional travel based on program needs. Strong reliability, punctuality, sound judgment, and attention to safety and detail. Safely transport residents to and from scheduled Wellness Arts, recreational, and community outings. Help create a positive resident experience by offering courteous assistance, encouragement, and support throughout each trip. Maintain required transportation logs and attendance documentation and follow procedures designed to ensure every resident returns safely to campus. Complete routine vehicle safety checks before and after trips and promptly report maintenance concerns, malfunctions, or fuel needs. Support residents during outings as an escort when needed and communicate concerns or changes appropriately to the Wellness Arts team. Respond to and report incidents or emergencies in accordance with departmental procedures, including completing required documentation. Perform other transportation-related duties as assigned by the Wellness Arts Coordinator or Wellness Arts Manager. Typical Physical Demands Ability to bend, squat, raise arms above the shoulders and lift 40 lbs. Ability to push/pull 180 to 200 lbs. Key Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to work evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays based on program needs. Ability to communicate pleasantly and effectively with older adults, staff, residents’ families, visitors, volunteers, and members of the public. Ability to demonstrate a record of safe driving habits. Ability to assist residents with mobility devices, including walkers and wheelchairs, and to safely secure wheelchairs using vehicle restraint systems as needed. Ability to meet eligibility requirements for insurability under the organization’s vehicle insurance policy. Ability to communicate effectively through verbal, written, and electronic means with residents, families, staff, and community partners.
