Weekend CDL Instructor - Weekend Only
ConfidentialD's Trucking School | Minden, NV Part-Time, Saturdays & Sundays D's Trucking School in Minden is looking for an experienced CDL driver to teach our weekend students. Our students aren't here to sit in a classroom for months. Most are working a weekday job and training on weekends to change careers. In 8 weeks, we get them licensed, road-ready, and hired. We need an instructor who can actually teach the job — not just talk about it. If you know trucking, know how to work with adult learners, and want to pass on what you've learned without giving up your weekday job, this is a good fit. What You'll Do Teach classroom lessons on traffic laws, FMCSA regulations, DOT compliance, and ELDT theory requirements Provide hands-on, behind-the-wheel instruction — pre-trip inspections, air brakes, backing maneuvers, shifting a manual transmission, and highway / city driving in a tractor-trailer Supervise weekend driving sessions and build students' confidence handling Class A and Class B commercial vehicles Evaluate students honestly and give direct, constructive feedback so they know exactly where they stand before their Nevada DMV skills test Keep accurate records for attendance, student progress, and certification readiness to meet DOT, FMCSA, and ELDT requirements Follow all safety standards during yard and road training, every time Stay current on changes to trucking regulations, FMCSA rules, and Nevada DMV requirements What You Need Valid Nevada CDL with at least 2 years of commercial driving experience — required to qualify for a Nevada CDL Instructor License Proven experience operating tractor-trailers with manual transmissions — this is a must Strong working knowledge of FMCSA regulations, DOT rules, traffic laws for commercial vehicles, and safe driving practices Ability to explain complex concepts clearly and patiently to adults learning a new trade Prior teaching, training, or mentoring experience is a plus, but not required — if you can drive it and can teach it, we want to talk to you Why D's Trucking School We're a small, hands-on school at 2436 Precision Drive, Suite C in Minden.
