Water Distribution Operator

Benefits: 401(k) Dental insurance Health insurance Vision insurance About the Role: Orangevale Water Company is looking for a dedicated Water Distribution Operator to join our team in Orangevale, CA. This is a hands-on role at the heart of our mission — delivering safe, reliable water to the community we serve. Responsibilities: Operate, maintain, and repair water distribution systems including mains, valves, hydrants, and service lines Monitor system pressure, flow rates, and water quality to ensure safe and efficient distribution Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on distribution infrastructure Respond to service calls, main breaks, and emergency repairs in a timely manner Read and document water meters, and investigate customer service issues Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and system data Ensure compliance with state and local water quality regulations and safety standards Requirements: Valid California Water Distribution Operator certification (D2 or T1 required your first year) Experience in water distribution, utilities, or a related field Knowledge of water system operations, pipe materials, and distribution equipment Ability to operate equipment such as backhoes, compressors, and hand tools Valid California driver's license with a clean driving record Must live within 40 minutes of Company office (for on-call purposes). Ability to work on-call, overtime, and respond to after-hours emergencies Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform physical labor Graduation from high school or equivalent.
