Wastewater Truck Driver/Maintenance Mechanic
Artesian Resources CorpPOSITION SUMMARY The Wastewater Truck Driver/Maintenance Mechanic operates Company vehicles and specialized wastewater equipment and performs mechanical maintenance and repair of wastewater treatment, collection, and related utility equipment. This position supports wastewater operations by transporting personnel, tools, materials, and equipment; operating vacuum and other specialized trucks; and performing preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical systems and equipment. The position works closely with wastewater operations and maintenance personnel to ensure equipment and facilities are maintained safely, efficiently, and reliably. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES Safely operate Commercial Driver's License (CDL) vehicles, including combination sewer cleaning (Vactor) trucks, vacuum trucks, dump trucks, flatbed trucks, service trucks, trailers, and other heavy equipment. Perform cleaning and maintenance of gravity sewer mains, manholes, wet wells, lift stations, and other applicable wastewater collection-system infrastructure using high-pressure jetting, vacuum, and related equipment. Remove debris, grease, roots, sediment, and other obstructions from wastewater collection system infrastructure. Handle, transport, and dispose of wastewater, debris, residuals, and other collected materials in accordance with Company procedures and applicable environmental and regulatory requirements. Assist with preventive maintenance and emergency repairs of lift stations, pumps, valves, piping systems, and associated mechanical equipment. Perform mechanical maintenance on pumps, motors, valves, piping, generators, and related wastewater equipment. Assist with excavation, backfilling, and restoration activities associated with wastewater system repairs. Assist with excavation and underground utility work in accordance with applicable utility locating, damage-prevention, excavation, and Company safety procedures. Transport equipment, materials, construction supplies, and maintenance tools to and from job sites. Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and maintain required DOT documentation. Conduct routine inspections and minor maintenance of Company vehicles and specialized maintenance equipment. Operate skid steers, mini excavators, loaders, forklifts, trailers, and other construction equipment as required. Assist with bypass pumping operations during planned maintenance and emergency repairs. Participate in confined space entries following established Company safety procedures. Support sewer overflow response, force main failures, lift station failures, and other emergency wastewater incidents. Read utility maps, work orders, construction drawings, and maintenance records to locate job sites and underground infrastructure. Maintain accurate work orders, maintenance records, inspection reports, and vehicle logs using the Company's Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). Assist with CCTV inspection setup and support inspection crews during pipeline investigations. Perform traffic control in accordance with Company procedures and applicable regulations. Maintain inventory of tools, equipment, replacement parts, and supplies assigned to maintenance vehicles. Ensure all vehicles, trailers, and equipment remain clean, organized, and in safe operating condition. Communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, contractors, utility representatives, and customers. Respond to after-hours emergency callouts involving sewer backups, lift station failures, equipment breakdowns, storm events, and infrastructure failures. Comply with all OSHA regulations, DOT requirements, confined space procedures, Lockout/Tagout requirements, trench safety standards, and Company safety policies.
