Wastewater Operations Supervisor

HIRING RANGE: 7,058 – 7,943 monthly

 

About the Position:

The Wastewater Operations Supervisor leads the daily operations of the City’s wastewater treatment plant, ensuring regulatory compliance and efficient, high-quality treatment processes. This role oversees staff, plant performance, and operational systems to meet State and Federal standards.

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead and supervise wastewater operations staff, including work planning, training, performance management, and disciplinary actions.

  • Oversee wastewater treatment plant operations, ensuring compliance with State and Federal regulations and maintaining effluent quality standards.

  • Evaluate plant performance and operational data, identifying issues and implementing process improvements to optimize efficiency.

  • Direct mechanical and biological treatment processes, ensuring systems operate effectively and within required guidelines.

  • Develop and manage plant sampling programs, including scheduling and performance testing activities.

  • Support budget development and administration, including forecasting needs and monitoring expenditures.

  • Maintain accurate records and prepare technical reports, ensuring data integrity and regulatory compliance.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Four (4) years of experience in the operation and maintenance of water systems and facilities.

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. supplemented by specialized training in chemistry, environmental biology, construction technology or a related field.

  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Colorado driver’s license.

  • Possession of a valid Class A Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator certificate issued by the State of Colorado.

  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, the City of Grand Junction Leadership Track certification within two (2) years of appointment.
