Job Summary Aurora Geosciences Ltd is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Warehouse Technician to support our active drill core scanning project. This is a full time position based in Yellowknife, NT . This role is a hybrid of heavy material handling and core preparation. You will be responsible for safely operating a forklift to transport pallets of drill core, systematically unpacking and preparing core boxes for our high-tech scanning equipment, executing basic box repairs, and carefully rebuilding and securing pallets for long-term storage. The ideal candidate possesses strong organization skills, enjoys physical work, and understands that preserving the sequential integrity of geological samples is critical to the success of our project. Key Responsibilities Forklift Operation: Safely operate a counterbalance or rough-terrain forklift to load, unload, stack, and move heavy pallets of drill core from storage areas to the scanning station. Pallet Unpacking & Rebuilding: Carefully unwrap and dismantle core pallets; after scanning is complete, restack core boxes sequentially, re-strap/shrink-wrap the pallets, and transport them back to designated storage. Core Box Preparation: Open and close wooden or plastic core boxes without disturbing the internal rock samples. Ensure lids and labels remain properly matched to their respective boxes. Box Maintenance & Repair : Identify split, rotted, or structurally compromised core box dividers and outer walls. Use basic hand tools (hammers, nails, screws, staple guns) to repair or reinforce boxes so they can be safely scanned and stored. Quality Control & Sequence Management: Maintain strict organization to ensure core boxes never lose their sequential order (by hole ID and depth) during the unpalleting and repalleting process. Workspace Maintenance: Keep the core yard and scanning intake areas clean, organized, and free of debris (broken wood, plastic banding, loose rocks) to ensure a safe working environment. Qualifications & Skills Certification: Valid Forklift Operator Certification (training will be provided) Physical Stamina : Ability to lift up to 50 lbs repeatedly throughout the day, bend, crouch, and work in varied weather environments (indoor/outdoor yard). Attention to Detail: Excellent organizational skills to track numbers and sequencing accurately. A single inverted box can corrupt scanning data. Hand Tool Proficiency : Experience using basic tools for minor carpentry/box repair. Safety-First Attitude: Commitment to workspace safety protocols, proper lifting techniques, and vigilant forklift operation around foot traffic and sensitive scanning equipment. Experience: Previous experience in a mining core yard, geological facility, exploration camp, or industrial outdoor warehouse is an asset.
